Deepavali – Celebration of Light
Deepavali, also known as Diwali, is called as the festival of lights, it is one of the most significant and popular festivals in India and many other parts of the world. It is a celebration of good over evil, light over darkness, and knowledge over ignorance. The festival is celebrated over five days, with each day having its own significance and rituals.
The first day of Diwali is known as Dhanteras, which marks the beginning of the festival. On this day, people buy new utensils, jewellery, and other household items to decorate their homes. They also clean their homes thoroughly to welcome the Goddess Lakshmi, who is considered to be the goddess of wealth and prosperity.
The second day of Diwali is Narak Chaturdashi, which is also known as Chhoti Diwali. On this day, people take baths early in the morning and wear new clothes. They also light diyas, which are small clay lamps filled with oil and a wick. The diyas are lit to symbolize the victory of good over evil. The third day of Diwali is the main day of celebrations, known as Lakshmi Puja. On this day, people worship Goddess Lakshmi by lighting diyas and candles in their homes. They also offer prayers and sweets to the goddess, seeking her blessings for prosperity and happiness.

The fourth day of Diwali is Govardhan Puja, which is also known as Bhai Dooj. On this day, people worship Lord Krishna and his brother Balram, who are considered to be the epitome of brotherly love. Brothers are worshipped by their sisters on this day, seeking their blessings for happiness and prosperity.

The fifth and final day of Diwali is Bhai Dooj, which is celebrated as a day to honor brothers. Sisters prepare delicious food and gifts for their brothers and celebrate their bond with them.
Diwali is not just a festival but a symbol of hope and renewal. It reminds us that even in darkness, there is always light.
